From the End of the World to Your Town | Episode Six

The first record Annie ever bought, Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy from Elton John is a concept album that tells the story of the musical partnership between Elton and his lyricist Bernie Taupin.

The package it came in was pretty impressive!

So I was still listening through past the 19:50 mark and thought I was about to hear a “chair squeak!”

You guys did a great job on this album. I would only share that I remember this album (which I ALSO love!) to have have been such a sonically beautiful one. It came out around a time when the quality of home stereos was advancing in many homes and bedrooms. But, more importantly, the stereos that were appearing in new cars let the audio of some of the stereo FM radio broadcasts really show their stuff. Captain Fantastic sounded amazing. So much creativity in the arrangements and musicianship. The recording was wonderful. And the Elton John Band of Davey Johnstone, Dee Murray, Nigel Olson, and Ray Cooper (with the production of Gus Dudgeon) is what THAT was all about.
